Kia Ora

Welcome to the teaching team. The team is made up of qualified teachers and enthusiastic teachers working towards their qualifications. Our qualifications vary from degrees, diplomas and certificates, to on-the-job and life experiences. All our teachers encourage children to interact with their environment and are not afraid to get dirty alongside the children.

Each teacher is a primary caregiver for a small whānau group. This enables them to concentrate on the individual child and their family’s needs.
All team members at COUNTRY KINDY hold first aid certificates and are committed to furthering their learning by taking part in Professional Learning and Development on a regular basis.
The teaching team is valued as a team, as a whole, and as individuals for their cultures, values, beliefs, knowledge and skills. This enables each teacher to work to their strengths. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help you.

FIONA

Welcome to COUNTRY KINDY. My name is Fiona, I am the Managing Director and Head Teacher.

Bringing up my beautiful daughter has made me reflect on my childhood memories of living in the country, having the freedom and space to explore.  I knew what boundaries were, and I had a great imagination.  I wanted to implement these aspects into COUNTRY KINDY, offering space for children to learn in.  Where the air is fresh and clean, and the children can safely explore with the guidance and support of an experienced teaching team.

I hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and I am a Fully Registered Teacher.  I believe in having an open door policy: parents, guardians and the teaching team can approach me for advice and support.  In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Some of my hobbies include scrap booking and photography.  So I welcome you to COUNTRY KINDY, I hope you and your child have lots of fun with us.

ABIGAIL

Kia ora, my name is Abigail.  I have just completed my Bachelor of Education Early Years (0-8 years) at Massey University.  Having said that, this does not make me new to working with young children as I was a primary school teacher for the past ten plus years in Zimbabwe where I come from.  I am passionate about working with children as it satisfies me to see them learn and put to test their working theories.  Working at COUNTRY KINDY reminds me of the joy my children had when we visited in the country where they experienced no boundaries for explorations, with animals, the environment and the open area to run around. I enjoy interacting with children and listening to them as they explain their thinking.

My husband and I have two children, a girl and a boy, both teenagers.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  Spending time outdoors always makes my day.  I love everything about New Zealand.
I look forward to meeting parents, wh?nau and caregivers and learning alongside your children.
